Today should be one of the warmest days this week. After the morning haze burns off, you should notice partly cloudy skies with temperatures sizzling into the middle to upper 90s. Here's what your football Friday night looks like – partly cloudy with temps by 8pm in the low to mid 80s. If you're a member of the football team, marching band, cheer squad or other supporting role, drink plenty of water this evening.

What a great Labor Day weekend it was...commonly thought of as the unofficial end to summer. However, not so is the case for us in Middle Georgia. With temperatures in the low 90s all week long, summer still has a firm grip on us here in Middle Georgia. Look for temperatures tonight to fall into the middle 60s with a few evenings clouds with a slight chance for a stray shower overnight.

The Dangers of Global Warming

Middle Georgia has been hit with record heat all summer causing environmental advocates to speak up about the dangers of Global Warming.
In the last few decades temperatures have increased in summer and winter months, which is damaging to agriculture, a big industry for the state.

Skies should be mostly clear with an increase in winds compliments of Hurricane Earl, which is only about 700 miles to our east-southeast. We're also tracking a cold front racing towards our area and it could bring a very slight chance for a shower come your Friday. Overnight you should notice mostly clear skies with evening lows in the mid 60s.

We'll call it a “cool” and comfortable start to your Wednesday morning. You may be able to crack the window on your drive in to work this morning. We're looking for the thermometer to hit the 90 + degree mark this afternoon with just a few passing clouds by midday and into this evening. Expect another relatively “cool” overnight into Thursday morning with temps in the mid 60s. Compliments of Hurricane Earl, we'll hold on to a chance for a stray shower Thursday & Friday with increasing clouds.

Earl on course toward US East Coast after battering Caribbean

blip:

The National Hurricane Center says it's too soon to predict what effect Hurricane Earl will have on the U.S.

Forecasters say that the Category 4 storm will at least kick up dangerous rip currents.

Earl could brush the East Coast but forecsters say a slight change in direction could bring landfall. Coastal residents from North Carolina to Maine are being urged to monitor storm reports closely.

Earlier, the storm battered the northeastern Caribbean, but there are no reports of casualties.
